About the system

“Who shot first? Where did they shoot from?”
Latest sad example is the conflict in the Donbass region…
Unfortunately, the latest technical equipment did not allow the international monitoring mission to give the society the clear answers regarding the sources of the shots, followed by destruction and loss of life…

PELENG360 System (gunfire locator) allows in real time mode without human intervention determining the exact coordinates of the shots of the large-calibre guns (tanks, mortars, mine explosions, bombs) and their time in the areas of military confrontation. It is relevant to Donbass (ATO) and “frozen” conflicts.
It is effective to use the system to determine the fact of the first shot and its coordinates and time. At this no one needs to go to the place of explosion and investigate the craters, as well as to track the trajectory of the shells.

The system consists of sensors and centralized information gathering and processing server.
The result of the system operation is an archive of collected data and the online map with the shots’ coordinate points accessible from any computer, tablet or Smartphone.

Principle of operation

The sensors are located in the area sectors in open spaces: the roofs of the houses, cellular communication towers, etc. There are no special requirements for quantity and location of sensors, but it is recommended to install at least 5-10 sensors in the area at a distance of not less than 0.5 kilometers from each other.

Upon the occurrence of a large-calibre gun shot in the area, the sound wave from the source is analyzed by the sensors and, if necessary, the processed information is transmitted to the central server via mobile Internet or SMS, if the mobile Internet is unavailable in the area.
The archive (offline) operation is also possible if there is no mobile communication at all.
All the transmitted information is encrypted via the modern algorithms.

The server processes the information from the sensors and, if it is possible to determine the fact of the explosion, stores the data in the archive and adds the explosion coordinate points on the online map (available on the website), and records its time as well.

Status, plans and current problems

  • CURRENT STATUS

    Currently the system is completely ready for the real tests at the military training area; it underwent separate indirect tests to verify the functionability

  • WHAT ABOUT THE BATTLE?

    The system is good for determining the first shot, but is absolutely useless when there is a continuous battle

  • ANOTHER WEAPONS

    It does not capture the explosions of the multiple launch rocket systems “Grad”, machine guns

  • INTELLIGENCE

    The following versions require the improved explosions recognition algorithm

  • INCOMING-OUTGOING

    The system cannot distinguish between the incoming and outgoing explosions, but positioning the sensors in a “grey area” between the parties to the conflict solves the problem automatically

    Now there may be false positives from the thunderstorm/lightning
